Book Donations
Donating your used books is an essential part of the Friends fundraising for the library.
We accept the following items:
- Books
- CDs
- DVDs
- Complete games and puzzles
- Sheet music
Please do not donate any textbooks, magazines, VHS or cassette tapes, or any items in bad condition (i.e. moldy, dusty, broken, incomplete, or signs of animal dwellings). Our volunteers will have to throw them out.
The Friends are a non-profit organization. For tax information for item donations, please visit our Tax Information page.
The Friends hold designated “donation days” in the Buchanan Auditorium once a month. This has appeared to work well for both the donors and for the Friends board members and volunteers who collect and sort the books.
We hope that people can hold onto their donations until our next donation day.
However, if you find yourself in a situation where your spouse, significant other or family member has passed away and now you have a well-loved collection of books that no longer have a home, please feel free to reach out to the Friends by emailing us at [email protected] and we can assist in the donation process outside of our regular donation day to help lighten the load while you focus on other priorities.
