Book Donations
Donating your used books is an essential part of the fundraising the Friends do for the library.
We accept the following items:
- Books
- CDs
- DVDs
- Complete games and puzzles
- Sheet music
We do not accept any textbooks, magazines, VHS or cassette tapes, or any items in bad condition (i.e. moldy, dusty, broken, incomplete, or signs of animal dwellings). Our volunteers will have to throw them out.
The Friends are a non-profit organization. For tax information for item donations, please visit our Tax Information page.
Upcoming Book Donation Days
The Friends hold designated “donation days” in the Buchanan Auditorium once a month. This has appeared to work well for both the donors and for the Friends board members and volunteers who collect and sort the books.
We are endeavoring to have a regular donation day on the first Saturday of the each month, however please check the main page of this website in case of cancellation or changes due to a holiday weekend.
- Saturday, October 5th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon)
- Saturday, November 2nd from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon)
- Saturday, December 7th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon)
- Saturday, January 4th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon)
We hope that people can hold onto their donations until our next donation day.
However, if you find yourself in a situation where your spouse, significant other or family member has passed away and now you have a well-loved collection of books that no longer have a home, please feel free to reach out to the Friends by emailing us at [email protected] and we can assist in the donation process outside of our regular donation day to help lighten the load while you focus on other priorities.
